El Tuito

The charming old town of El Tuito near Plaza Pelicanos Grand Beach Resort

El Tuito is an authentic colonial town embraced by the Sierra Madre mountain range, just 45 minutes south of Puerto Vallarta. Its name derives from the Nahuatl language meaning "beautiful small valley". Because it is 762 m above sea level, the temperature is cooler and less humid than in Puerto Vallarta.

Be sure to take your camera with you, as its old adobe buildings retain their historic charm, walk through its streets to the main square, where the locals gather to rest and chat.
From inside the restaurants of El Tuito you can smell the smell of freshly handmade tortillas, where you can taste authentic Mexican food. The town is also known for its delicious dairy products, such as panela cheese, and also for its famous raicilla.
