The National park of the Marietas Island consist of two desolated islands close to Banderas Bay, and are known as the “Long Island” and the “Round Island” . These island are a one-hour boat trip away from Puerto Vallarta and are visited daily for hundreds and hundreds of tourist and locals alike. Located in the crater-like structure of the island you´ll find the “hidden beach” or “love beach”, a virgin beach that can only be accessible when the tide is low.
The Archipelago also hosts 44 different species of flora and fauna that make these islands their home. Between these species you´ll find seabirds, a great variety of corals, reef fishes, tropical fishes, dolphins, rays, sea turtles, eels, octopus and even whales during the winter season.
Since May 2016, the tourism on this island has been reduced in a great amount due to conservation efforts on the area, but there are still touristic operators that still offers trips to the magical place.
